Pyramix
Software Updates
New
features in Pyramix Virtual Studio Version 3.2 and 4
Main
- Digitizing
Session allows Auto-Conformation. When an external machine is
selected, the Auto-Conform panel allows loading a CMX EDL, defining handles
and
conforming the EDL using the selected external machine.
- Akai
DD/DR Series Disk can now be mounted and projects and/or libraries be
imported or directly played back. Feature available through menu Project
/ Import /
Akai DD-Series Disk.
- Pyramix
now supports Minnetonka Surround Encoders directly from within the
application. Dolby Digital (AC-3) and DTS encoders can be purchased
as external
plug-ins and once installed are available through the menu Projects / Export
/
Surround Encode. A small external application, AC3 Player, is also available
to
check your AC3 encoded files, playback them on the Mykerinos board or convert
them back to PMF or Wave.
- Markers
can be renumbered using the Renumber button in the Markers Tab
Window.
- Double-clicking
on clips now opens the selection property windows. Pressing Ctrl
open the property window only for this particular clip. Double-clicking
on a fade
opens the fade editor.
- Mute
clip now available in the menu Clips. (Assignable to a keyboard shortcut)
- The
Timeline can be scrolled with the menu View / Scroll Timeline /
Left/Right/Up/Down. (Assignable to a keyboard shortcut)
- Unused
media can be automatically delete with the menu Project / Clean-up
Media. All media in a given Media Folder that are not referenced by the
current
project are deleted. This feature can be automatically performed after any
recording to simulate a destructive recording. This option is accessible
in the
Project / Document Information & Settings / Record Page.
- Playback
stalls can be reported by enabling this option in the General Settings /
Playback Page.
- The
last Punch operation can be automatically repeated by calling the menu
Machines / Internal Machine / Punch / Remake last Punch (in-Out). Remake
last
Punch (In only) repeats the last punch operation but leaves the Punch Out
manual.
These options are assignable to a keyboard shortcut.
- Pull-down
and pull-up allows to speed down or speed up the nominal sampling
frequency by the exact one per thousand ratio corresponding to the NTSC
framerate with respect to the 30 frame per second.
- The
varispeed mode allow other speed factors to be handled such as 25 to
24 frm/s. The maximum variation is +/- 12%. This option is available in
the General Page of the mixer contextual menu. Important Note: Typical digital
to analog or analog to digital converters (such as Merging Sphynx or DUAII)
do not operate beyond +/- 0.15 o/oo (150 ppm) and therefore will mute in
any varispeed mode. It is suggested to route Mykerinos digital IOs through
external real-time sampling rate conversion circuitry or use adequate external
converters with built-in pull-up or pull-down support.
Note 2: Locking to external NTSC video reference is limited to nominal and
pull-down
sampling rates.
