The IMA Dongle

Incite Media Assistant now employs a dongle software protection device. Be sure the dongle is
inserted to the parallel port of your computer securely (or to another dongle device if your system
uses similarly protected software applications).

Installation Notes

Insert the dongle on the Parallel port of your computer. If installing to your Incite station, place
the Incite dongle first and then the IMA dongle.

Open the folder containing the IMA 2.5 setup file. If there is an existing, older version of IMA
installed on your system, setup will first remove this older version. Once removal has been
completed, re-launch the setup file and installation begins.

Enhancements

VFW and DirectX: The 2GB Limitation has been resolved.

The problem of viewing/converting or otherwise working with media files greater than the VFW
2GB limitation has been solved. This provides greater communication between Incite and Incite
Media Assistant as Incite captures and works with DirectX media files (which can easily exceed
2GB).

Playing External (linked) Audio Files

Incite Media Assistant now lets you play up to four external or . linked. audio files when
previewing video media, working with the Preview logger or playing back the storyboard. You can
switch on/off tracks during playback, listening to all available tracks or in combination. Activation
is done directly within the window you are working in. Track activation buttons (A1, A2, A3 and
A4) or supplied for picons in the Catalog List, in the Preview Logger, and in the Monitor Window
(for updating clips and/or storyboard playback). Remember that linked audio tracks are tracks
captured in sync with video media (and therefore have the same name as the video file, adding
an audio suffix and using a different file format extension, e.g. MyClip.avi, MyClipA1.wav,
MyClipA2.wav, etc.). If your linked audio media is stored on a separate disk drive, you must
assign this drive or else the audio will not be accessible. For more see E. Select Audio Drive in
New Features below.

Dual Processor Systems

Incite Media Assistant and Dual Processor Systems: Setting Affinity is no longer necessary.

In Incite Media Assistant 2.0 some systems running dual processors may have encountered
IMA performance problems, which could be overcome by changing the Affinity settings for
IMA.

In IMA 2.5 the problem has been resolved.

New Features

A. Real Media Conversion

Real Media Conversion now supports the RealVideo 8.0 format. In addition, you no longer need to
purchase and install RealProducer to convert to this format (as was necessary in IMA 2.0). Real
Media parameters are established directly within IMA 2.5 using the RM Converter Settings and
Preferences tab windows (in the RM Converter).

As a result of this new method for establishing settings, you no longer need to by-pass the
conversion process through the AVI converter when working with linked media (Note: The Convert
to AVI Options have been removed).

In addition, AVI files in the Catalog List can be converted with Color Correction directly into the
RM format.

B. QT Conversion/Make Movie Templates

It is now possible to create and save QT conversion parameters as template files using the
Template/Save or Save As options in the QT Converter window and the Make QT Movie
window.

Note: QT and AVI templates use the same extension (.MCC) so be sure to name your
templates in a way that is easily recognizable as to the type of format/parameter/project is
used for.

C. Interleave audio and video

Under the AVI converter/ Audio tab there is a new field for selecting audio and video
interleave. The 1frame/1 second selections are particularly useful when converting files that
will be played from a CD source (low-speed reading devices).

The parameters are:

None - The converter will write the video stream to file and then the audio stream. This is not
           recommended for playing from CD.
1 Frame - Video and audio streams will be mixed frame by frame.
1 second - Video and audio streams will be mixed per second.

D. Conversion Server

In the Add Folder window of the Conversion Server (select Tasks/Add Task to launch this
window) you can now select and use QT templates. In the To area, activate the QT radio button.
Then activate the Use template radio button in the Settings area. To browse for QT conversion
templates click on the browse button. QT templates use the .QTC extension.

E. Select Audio Drive

The command Tools/Select Audio Drive opens the Select Audio Location window where you can
select the location of audio files if they have been captured to a separate disk. This feature is
important (especially for DigiSuite/RT2000 users) in the following situations:

Locating linked media when browsing media file folders. For example, if you are viewing video
files in the Catalog List you will not be able to hear linked audio on a separate drive if the audio
drive has not been assigned.

When converting linked video/audio files where the linked audio media must be looked for on a
separate disk (i.e. NewYork.avi is located on your video drive, while the linked audio files
NewYork.A1.wav and NewYork.A2.wav are located in drive G, folder myAudio (G:\myAudio).

When converting media files into formats that create linked .avi and .wav files and when you
wish the audio to be stored on a separate disk. The video files will be placed in the selected
folder while the audio files will be stored on the designated disk/folder selected in the Select
Audio Location window.

IMPORTANT: Please note that, once selected, the Audio Drive will be used as the default
location for searching/storing of linked media.
